I got some book mail again ✨

I ordered two new books from Debbie Tung. The first one is "Book Love" and second one is "Everything is OK". I already have another graphic novel from her at home but never got the chance to read it. It’s definitely something different from the books I usually read. But the illustrations alone just said: Buy me!

I bet it’s gonna be so relatable ✨🌙

📚 Quiet Girl in a Noisy World: An Introvert’s Story by Debbie Tung

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

“There’s a lot of beauty in quiet strength. It’s perfectly fine to prefer thinking to talking… to retreat into your inner world whenever you need some alone time… and to do your thing and put your heart and soul into it.”

This graphic novel is made up of little comics and vignettes on the life of the author, an introvert. She struggles in day-to-day life, but finds peace in her moments of solitude, even finding a partner who respects her boundaries.

A cute and fun read, especially as someone who has a tad of social anxiety. It’s a nice reminder that we can work on ourselves and be perfect in our imperfections. It felt a bit all over the place at first, but then developed into a nice flow.

Hedgy: So...when you hang out with people who your unsure of...you only have 5% to give them?

Bear: Yes, something like that. 🤪

Hedgy: But if it's me...it's like ...you can keep going for 6 Hours?

Bear: well, I'm mostly listening babe :)

Even if Bear can keep going for 6 Hours...I feel like she and I still need breaks in between.

One thing Bear brings up though...is that another reason she and I try to make the most out of our time together...is...we do feel like there's not enough time.

I'm mainly okay...that I know she and I met when we did ...but Bear just wished we had even more time! Like we had met when we were kids! Like 8!

As for Bear referencing she's like Debbie....I think it might be the entries from 'Quiet Girl In A Noisy World' where Debbie Tung is averse from hanging out in groups.

Everything is Ok by Debbie Tung

× It wasn’t for me

I didn’t hate it, but I can’t say I liked it.

Objectively, it’s an ok book. It’s about the author’s experience and struggle with mental illness. Some parts made me rather emotional, to the point of tears even, but overall, it was kind of… cliché?

I feel like I could’ve used a book like this when I was 15 and at the peak of my depression, but now? Meh.

There isn’t really a story, it’s more like… I’m not sure how to describe it, a moving text? Motivational speech? Reassurance? There’s just no structure.

The art was beautiful though, I’ll give it that. And I didn’t find anything toxic or something that would negatively affect mental health.

If you’re a teenager, give it a try. If you’re an adult? I’d skeep this one.

This was my first book by Debbie Tung and while I didn’t hate it, let’s just say I won’t be picking up another one.
